    Non-Fiction

2026 is the year of marvellous Marys in non-fiction, with brand-new volumes from renowned classicist Mary Beard and beloved cook (and, it turns out, accomplished gardener) Mary Berry. Elsewhere, Liza Minnelli spins some stunning showbiz stories, Emily English serves up delicious and nutritious meals, Antony Beevor delivers the definitive biography of Russia’s ‘mad monk’ Rasputin, and the creators of sumptuous modern classic The Lost Words combine again for the breathtakingly beautiful A Book of Birds.

    Children’s

We love great graphic novels at Waterstones, which is fortunate as it seems the nation’s children do too! 2026 sees the highly exciting first volume in a new series from the much-loved creator of the Bunny vs Monkey comic books Jamie Smart, as well as Neill Cameron’s frenzied follow-up to our Book of the Year shortlisted Donut Squad: Take Over the World! and Huw Aaron’s sequel to the riotous Unfairies. Aaron also makes the cut with his hilarious new picture book Monkeypig, whilst Katie Kirby and Katherine Rundell with the latest instalments in their hit chapter book series for older readers.
